Woodforest Development Progress Continues; First Buyers Announced

(Conroe, TX – Oct. 7, 2008)              Progress in Woodforest, a new master-planned community by The Johnson Development Corp. in Montgomery County, continues on schedule, with the first official buyers signed on, a custom sales manager and Welcome Lodge manager on board and the Welcome Lodge slated to open in early 2009. “We are a few weeks from delivering 240 homesites to our production and custom builders, and the first rooftops, including production models, should be visible before the end of the year,” said Virgil Yoakum, general manager of the community. “In addition, we have experienced early success with our custom sales program, with our first homesite already sold.” Ryan Paul, a construction manager with Jeff Paul Custom Homes, has purchased a homesite in Elk Reserve, a custom neighborhood of 24 homesites staged around two lakes. “I’m very excited to both build and live in Woodforest,” said Paul, who will begin construction on his own home at approximately the same time as several other designs by Jeff Paul Custom Homes get under way in the community. “We have a lot of faith in the success of Woodforest, especially since Virgil Yoakum is the general manager. He was key to the success of The Woodlands. And, actually, building here is not just a show of faith in Woodforest, which holds so much promise, but also in our company, since our clients will also be our neighbors.” Jeff Paul Custom Homes, as well as George Weaver Custom Homes, J.M. Wendell Custom Homes, Meadowlark Custom Homes, T.D. Cox Homes, Tommy Bailey Homes and Legendary Custom Homes will launch the first phase of Woodforest’s custom-home program and begin construction this fall on the seven showcase homes to be featured during Woodforest’s October 2009 grand opening. With custom home sales officially under way, Chad McClung has been hired as custom sales manager to handle already significant interest in Woodforest’s two custom neighborhoods – Elk Trace and Elk Reserve, where homes will be priced from the $750,000s to more than $1 million. Also tracking well is the construction of the Woodforest Welcome Lodge, a 4,300-square-foot custom home that will serve as the development’s information and homefinder center. Lodge construction is slated for completion this fall, with work on the interior starting in October. Faith Bailes, the new Welcome Lodge manager, will oversee daily operations of the Welcome Lodge. Road construction throughout Woodforest is ahead of schedule, with 80 percent of roads in the first phase of development completed. The Fish Creek Thoroughfare roadway and bridge are well under way, with bridge construction slated for completion in early 2009. Fish Creek Thoroughfare, the Welcome Lodge and production model homes are all on target to open in early 2009, as planned. Several amenities also will open in the spring, including hike-and-bike trails throughout the first neighborhoods, as well as two lakeside parks and a neighborhood park.  “Everything has been progressing very smoothly,” Yoakum said. “We look forward to opening fully ready to answer prospective home buyers’ questions and needs and to give our residents an enticing lifestyle from the very beginning.”
