Woodforest touts quick shopping and work commutes with prime location

(Montgomery, TX – July 12, 2010)
Fifteen minutes. That’s all the new master-planned community of Woodforest is from great shopping, delectable dining and impressive services, such as St. Luke’s and Memorial Hermann hospitals.

“Woodforest is just six miles from Lake Conroe, close to the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, The Woodlands Mall and Market Street,” said Virgil Yoakum, general manager of Woodforest. “There’s a reason we say Woodforest is ‘in the center of it all.’”

Even closer is the FM 1488 and FM 2978 shopping corridor, which offers popular retailers and restaurants such as Kroger, Home Depot, Target, Office Max, Chili’s, Starbucks and many others.
“And residents can be assured that we are less than 15 minutes from some of the area’s best medical services — St. Luke’s and Memorial Hermann hospitals, which also are some of the region’s largest employers,” Yoakum said.
Enhancing Woodforest’s location are recent road improvements, including the opening of Fish Creek Thoroughfare, a major roadway through Woodforest and an important regional artery, providing a much-needed north-south alternative to Interstate 45. While the roadway currently stretches from Tomball to FM 2854, it will extend all the way to State Highway 105 when construction is completed on an overpass crossing railroad tracks and FM 2854. Work is ahead of schedule and could be finished as early as December.
“The overpass is particularly exciting for residents of Woodforest,” Yoakum said, “because, when it’s finished, they will be able to enjoy easy access to Lake Conroe and all of the new restaurants and retail along Highway 105 near McCaleb Road. And home values are destined to increase with the greater mobility in the region.”

Ultimately, the north-south roadway will connect from State Highway 105 to the Grand Parkway once construction of that thoroughfare continues in the area.

Shopping, dining and services will be even closer as development in Woodforest continues. The Woodforest master plan includes a suburban marketplace, where clusters of shops, restaurants, entertainment venues and residential areas are within easy walking distance of each other.

“With an interesting mix of retail, dining and civic offerings, the Woodforest Downtown is destined to become a major attraction for the entire area,” Yoakum said.

The 3,000-acre Woodforest, which surrounds Woodforest Golf Club, is planned for 5,500 homes and currently offers a broad array of homes priced from the $190,000s to more than $1 million from some of the area’s — and nation’s — most respected builders. Sales have been strong in the community, which has started more than 100 homes and recently welcomed its 100th resident.
“I anticipate Woodforest’s sales to just keep growing,” said David Flory with RE/MAX Professional Group, who has sold five homes in the community. “As our clients tell their friends about the development, we get more phone calls about wanting to see the community.”
