Crowds Help Woodforest Celebrate Grand Opening

More than 1,700 people enjoyed a big slice of Americana during the first weekend of Woodforest’s grand opening celebration, “The American Dream Showcase of Homes.”

Highlights of the event, which happened April 10-18, included tours of four $1 million-plus custom homes and six model homes, as well as a bevy of free activities. Themed to evoke the simpler times of yesteryear, activities included contests in kite flying, bubble gum blowing and sidewalk chalk drawing, as well as balloon artists, a bounce house and face painting. Visitors were invited to submit names for the community spray ground, and classic cars added to the “days gone by” atmosphere. Plus, event-goers visiting Woodforest’s model homes had a chance for many door prizes, including patio furniture and a gazebo, donated by Home Depot, a Dream Day spa getaway, donated by Highland Homes, and a weekend getaway for two in Fredericksburg, Texas, donated by Newmark Homes, with two nights at a bed and breakfast and two tickets to a wine-tasting event.

Also happening leading up to and during the event were home sales.

“We’ve had a great first quarter, in terms of both the number of people visiting the community and the number of homes sold,” said Virgil Yoakum, general manager of Woodforest. “Plus, with all the attention we received in response to the grand opening, we’ve sold one of the estate homes on the tour, and have prospective buyers for several other available homes.”

Woodforest surrounds the 27-hole Woodforest Golf Club and is just minutes from the many entertainment and shopping attractions in South Montgomery County, only 5.2 miles north of The Woodlands and just six miles from the outdoor recreation of Lake Conroe. Homes are priced from the $190,000s by builders D.R. Horton, Highland Homes, Pulte Homes, Plantation Homes and Newmark Homes. Custom builders are Jeff Paul Custom Homes, Meadowlark Homes and George Weaver, Inc.

As development continues, Woodforest residents will enjoy on-site schools and convenient on-site retail, including a suburban marketplace with clusters of shops, restaurants, entertainment venues and residential areas within walking distance of one other.
