Woodforest builders continue inventory home construction

(Montgomery, TX – November 2009)

Woodforest continues to gain momentum, with more new homes underway and voters recently giving commercial development a boost in the community.
D.R. Horton, one of Woodforest’s newest builders, has started thirteen spec homes and a model home on 55-foot and 65-foot homesites. Base prices are from the $190,000s on 55-foot homesites and from the $280,000s on the larger properties. Highland Homes, another new builder, also has two homes underway. Highland is building on 70-foot homesites within Monarch Park, served by the Montgomery Independent School District, with base prices starting in the $280,000s. The two join other well-known builders including Pulte Homes on 55-foot homesites, with prices from the $210,000s, and Plantation Homes, which features 17 plans up to 3,700 square feet on 65-foot homesites and starting prices from the $270,000s to $340,000s. Newmark Homes also builds in Woodforest, with a mix of one- and two-story plans on 80- by 140-foot homesites, with sizes up to 4,930 square feet and base prices from the $360,000s to $410,000s. Those three builders also have inventory homes ready for move in available. Buyers looking for more exclusive homes also have a broad choice in Woodforest. Jeff Paul Custom Homes, Wendell Custom Homes, George Weaver Custom Homes and Meadowlark Homes offer custom properties priced at $1 million or more. Estate homesites range up to one acre, with a generous selection of golf and lake properties. Ready for move-in is a $1.66 million design by Jeff Paul Custom Homes. Overlooking Woodforest Golf Club, the Tuscan-themed home offers 6,383 square feet on a one-acre homesite. Highlights of the home include barrel-vault ceilings and open ceiling trusses suspended 20 feet high, a media room with a hidden screen and an adjacent bar area, covered parking for five cars and an attached guest casita. Commercial development within the community is ready to move forward with the passing of a proposition to allow the legal sale of alcoholic beverages in the last dry area of Montgomery County. Woodforest led the push to change the law prohibiting the sale of alcohol, established in 1937. The proposition was put on the Nov. 3 ballot after Woodforest collected 745 signatures and was passed by 67 percent of the vote. “With 90 acres devoted to retail development in Woodforest, this affirmation by voters will allow us to attract a wide range of restaurants and retailers, such as grocery stores, to the area,” said Virgil Yoakum, general manager of Woodforest.  In addition to traditional retail, the community’s master plan calls for a Town Center that will be a commercial hub with restaurants, specialty retail, residential and more. The Woodforest Welcome Lodge is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 5:30 p.m. For more information, visit www.woodforestdev.com or the Welcome Lodge at 101 Elk Trace Parkway, or call 936.447.2800.
