Woodforest welcomes D.R. Horton to Builder Line-Up(Montgomery, TX – October 2009)
Woodforest has added two new builders, expanding price ranges of homes offered in the new Montgomery County community. D.R. Horton, the nation’s second-largest homebuilder, is now building in Woodforest’s Overland Trace neighborhood, with homes on 55-foot homesites base-priced from the $190,000s. Presales and model home construction have begun, with plans for inventory homes underway. Presales will be handled in the Woodforest Welcome Lodge while the D.R. Horton model home is under construction. D.R. Horton joins the nation’s largest homebuilder, Pulte Homes, in Overland Trace. Pulte offers homes priced from the $210,000s in Woodforest.
Also new to Woodforest is Sullivan Signature Homes, a well-known local builder that will break ground on its first home in Woodforest this month, with a second home to follow. Bordering Woodforest Golf Club, both homes will be built on 130- by 300-foot properties overlooking the No. 3 fairway. “I think Woodforest is the next big thing in South Montgomery County,” said company president Paul Sullivan. “The master vision is well conceived and there are exciting plans for amenities within the community. Plus, the community is located in a real hot spot in Montgomery County, north of the FM 1488 corridor, surrounding the 27-hole Woodforest Golf Club.” Sullivan is working with Mark W. Todd Architects, Inc. to design homes best-suited to the Woodforest properties. Sullivan expects the 4,700-5,700-square-foot homes to be priced from the $700,000s. “D.R. Horton and Sullivan Signature Homes really enable us to offer a range of housing for nearly every type of buyer,” said Virgil Yoakum, Woodforest’s general manager.
“With D.R. Horton, we now offer homes priced below $200,000 and Sullivan Signature Homes bridges the gap between Newmark Homes, which caps out around $600,000 in Woodforest, and our million-dollar custom builders.”
Several inventory homes are ready or near-ready in the community, including designs by Plantation Homes, Pulte Homes and the four previously announced custom builders: George Weaver, Inc., Jeff Paul Custom Homes, Meadowlark Homes and Wendell Custom Homes. The Jeff Paul home is complete, with the other custom homes slated for completion in November and December.
A project of The Johnson Development Corp., the 3,000-acre Woodforest is just minutes from the many entertainment and shopping attractions in South Montgomery County, only seven miles from Interstate 45 and just six miles from the outdoor recreation of Lake Conroe. Fish Creek Thoroughfare, a major roadway through Woodforest and an important regional artery, provides a much-needed north-south alternative to Interstate 45. The road currently ends at FM 2854 in Conroe; however, construction begins this year on an overpass that will extend the thoroughfare to State Highway 105.
New parks also are open in the community, with plans underway for Forest Island, a multi-million-dollar recreation complex that will include multiple pools and water slides, playgrounds, tennis courts, a clubhouse, a pavilion with an outdoor fireplace and more.
The Woodforest Welcome Lodge is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 5:30 p.m. For more information, visit www.woodforestdev.com or the Welcome Lodge at 101 Elk Trace Parkway, or call 936.447.2800.
