Custom builders continue work on multi-million-dollar estates in Woodforest(Montgomery, TX – September 2009)
Truly magnificent homes are taking shape amid a canopy of trees in the new Woodforest community as custom builders continue work on several estates priced up to $1.7 million. With more than 25 years of homebuilding experience, Sammy Kuehn of Meadowlark Homes believes Woodforest is primed for success. “What could complement our homes better than a heavily wooded golf course setting?” said Kuehn. “Knowing that Woodforest is a project of The Johnson Development Corp. gives us great confidence in the lasting quality of this development.”
Meadowlark Homes’ 6,325-square-foot manse at 832 Eagle Pointe will be ready in October. Located on a one-acre homesite overlooking the No. 6 hole of Woodforest Golf Club, the home features one of the newest trends in custom home construction, a downstairs media room, allowing the movie-watching experience to more easily become an entertainment option for family and guests. The home has other entertainment spaces, as well, including a downstairs game room and wet bar, formal living and dining rooms and a covered veranda with a summer kitchen. Other highlights include a bonus room adjacent to the master suite that could be an exercise area or second office, a wine grotto, a curving stair with stone accents, and uninterrupted expanses of glass. With five bedrooms, five full baths and two half baths, the home is priced at $1.6 million.
Wendell Custom Homes has several homes underway, including a plantation-style home at 824 Eagle Pointe that is priced at more than $1.7 million and overlooks the No. 4 hole of Woodforest Golf Club. Already an award-winner, the 5,961-square-foot home includes five bedrooms, five full baths and three half baths, a downstairs media room, an upstairs game room and two libraries. The home has three fireplaces, including one warming the veranda and outdoor kitchen, as well as a downstairs guest suite and four-car garage. The home’s floor plan recently won second place in a prestigious residential design competition sponsored by the American Institute of Building Design.
Another Wendell design is a 5,540-square-foot colonial at 171 Windfair Loop. Priced at $1.45 million, the home features five bedrooms, five full baths, a home office and an elevator to the private guest suite. Large covered porches at the front and rear of the home invite dining al fresco or gazing at the stars while quietly rocking on a porch swing. Other amenities include an upstairs game room and two fireplaces. Located on a 0.75-acre homesite bordering a greenbelt, the home will be ready in December.
George Weaver Inc. also has a home slated for a December completion. The French country estate at 840 Eagle Pointe offers both lake and golf course views. A large entry courtyard with a fountain welcomes guests, who will also enjoy the home’s ultimate entertaining area — a downstairs media room with adjacent billiards room and bar area. Other features include an all-season loggia with a summer kitchen and fireplace, space for an elevator, an upstairs game room, a sun deck, five bedrooms, five full baths and three half baths. The 6,600-square-foot home is priced at $1.625 million.
Finally, well-known local builder Jeff Paul Custom Homes is finishing a 6,383-square-foot Tuscan-themed estate on a one-acre property overlooking the No. 3 green of Woodforest Golf Club. At 812 Eagle Pointe, the Mediterranean flavor of the home, which features a tile roof, continues throughout with brick arches, exposed beams, two stone fireplaces, a wine grotto with a brick ceiling, a domed entry to the master suite and more. The home features multiple patios, a summer kitchen, an attached two-story casita and a catering or hobby room. As in several of the other homes, the media room is located downstairs and has the added convenience of a wet bar. A raised game room is upstairs. The home also has five bedrooms, five full baths and two half baths, a three-car garage and a two-car porte-cochere. Ready in October, it is priced at $1.66 million.
Woodforest has two custom neighborhoods in Phase 1 development, Elk Reserve, with 24 homesites staged around two lakes, and Elk Trace, with 32 homesites averaging 130 by 330 feet. Most properties in Elk Trace border Woodforest Golf Club, nominated as one of the state’s top 10 golf courses in 2008 by Golf Digest magazine and one of the area’s most popular golf courses, with more than 48,000 rounds of golf played last year. Woodforest residents can enjoy special resident-only membership packages, with advantageous rates and preferential membership privileges. Woodforest Golf Club has reserved 1,000 full golf memberships and an unlimited number of social memberships for Woodforest property owners.
