Relocating to Houston

Location

City of Montgomery
Home to the Woodforest Community

The area surrounding Woodforest, a new Houston master-planned community, has many attractions that let visitors and residents experience a simpler time. One of the oldest towns in Texas, Montgomery is recognized as the birthplace of the Texas Lone Star flag. A preserved 19th-century historic downtown district is the perfect spot to spend the day browsing antiques stores and gift shops.

The step back in time continues with a cruise on an authentic replica of a 19th-century sternwheeler. Lunch and dinner cruises are available on this elegant paddleboat that tours Lake Conroe . An antique-style bar, custom-cut leaded and beveled crystal doors and windows, chandeliers, solid oak carved moldings and raised paneling is reminiscent of the lush Victorian era.

Other local attractions includes a monthly farmers market, the N.H. Davis Pioneer Complex & Museum and nearby Kings Orchard, where visitors can pick their own strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and figs. Also nearby is Bernhardt Winery, which offers tastings, wine dinners and other special events.
